Kindergarten is thankful for friends! Today we enjoyed a feast of popcorn, apples, milk, toast and our own homemade butter. Happy Thanksgiving!

6th and 9th grade AVID classes hosted our school's annual food drive before the holidays. This year we were able to donate 1,086 pounds of items! Special thanks to the 3rd and 8th graders for bringing in the most items in the elementary and high school.

Upsala is proud to announce this year's ExCEL Award recipients, Isaiah Sobiech and Isabelle Klug. ExCEL is a Minnesota State High School League award, which is awarded to one junior male and one junior female in each Minnesota school district. The program recognizes juniors who are leaders in the classroom, leaders in their respective athletic and arts activities, and demonstrate commitment to community service. Congratulations, Isabelle and Isaiah!

The jr. high music class shared music and played BINGO at the senior living facility (Vitality Living) on Friday. A fabulous time was had by all!
First graders had fun learning about erosion.
The 4 year old preschool classes were prepared for snow! We had such snowy fun this week!
The 3 year old preschool class had a turkey day! We made turkeys with feathers, colanders, and shapes! We took a counted 10 turkeys in the hallway, and they lead us to the lunchroom. Thank you Lunch Helpers for hosting our snack time today!
Kindergarten is learning about the letter Ss this week. We made necktie snakes with the help of the 9th grade class!
We had a lot of fun celebrating our students that completed Finn's Mission in our Kids Heart Challenge (American Heart Association) fundraiser! We also allowed 2 of our top fundraisers to silly string some seniors. We have an incredibly generous community! Our goal is to raise $2,500 for the AHA and we are currently at $2,441.81. Can we do it before the deadline tomorrow?
The 4 year old preschool class made special flag and heart art for Veterans Day. We want to say "Thank You" to all Veterans and Deployed Soldiers! Thanks to Central MN Warrior to Citizen- Beyond The Yellow Ribbon for helping us find a troop to send them to!
The Upsala Basketball programs are inviting all former players to come "home" for some fun Alumni basketball competition! There will be a boys' and girls' alumni game, both happening prior to our double-header matchup against Pine River-Backus on February 15th.

Congratulations to Gina Gross and Jennifer Schneider who received Support Staff of Excellence Awards! They were nominated by staff and recognized at a banquet last night. Resource Training and Solutions held the event and recognized support staff from Central Minnesota. Thank you Gina and Jennifer for all you do for the students and staff at UAS!
Our K-6th grade students have been working hard raising money for a great cause! These students are also learning hands-only CPR and the warning signs of stroke through this program. We only have a few days left to reach our goal! If you would like to donate please ask any student in our elementary and they would love to get your support! The deadline is this Friday November 22nd.
