Upsala senior Natasha Crowe is a national poster contest winner!
Last year for American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day Upsala students again created posters to help with Poppy Day awareness. Four local Upsala students had their posters advance to the district contest. They were William Barthel, Ruby Klug, Genevieve Mrozek and Natasha Crowe.
The poppy is the adopted symbol of remembrance by the American Legion Auxiliary for soldiers who have been lost in service. Each year volunteers distribute millions of poppies in exchange for contributions to assist veterans and active duty military where financial and medical need is evident.
Natasha's poster advanced through the district and state competitions, and was named the winner in the National Poppy Poster Contest Northwestern Division Class V.
On Thursday morning, January 4, 2024, Natasha was presented with a certificate, a poppy pin, and a framed copy of her artwork. Her poster is displayed on the American Legion Auxiliary website.
National Poppy Day this year will be May 24, 2024 and the poster contest will be held once again.
