Principal Greeting

Cardinal Head High School Student of the Month

Congratulations to senior, Dylan Graves, who was named Upsala High School’s September student of the month.  He is the son of Jeremy and Elisha Graves.

Graves has been a past subject area student of the month for both Science and Technology.

Physical Education is his favorite class.  PE Teacher, Jonathan Leither believes that Graves is great leader. Graves is the Captain of the Upsala-Swanville Patriot’s Football team this year.  He has been a positive influence on his team mates and others at school.  Ag/Shop Teacher Gretchen Schleper said,“Dylan Graves has shown maturity and always comes up with ideas to make things work better, especially in welding and woods. His input this year has been very valuable!”

Outside of school Graves is very busy.  He loves playing football and baseball. He also enjoys hunting, watching football, ice fishing and wakeboarding. He also works at a local gas station.

Future plans include schooling to become a plumber.

His advice to his classmates is “Work Hard!”

Cardinal Head Junior High Student of the Month

Olivia Peterson has been chosen as the September Upsala Junior High Student of the Month.  She is an eighth grader and daughter of Tim and Patty Peterson.

In school, Peterson participates in Junior High Band, Volleyball, Knowledge Bowl and Track.  She has been on the “A” honor roll every quarter. Last year she was recognized as January Junior High student of the month and in two subject areas - Art and Music.

Her favorite class is Math, because Mrs.Hovlands class is so fun. “I always get a good laugh every time I'm in her class. She also makes math easier for me to understand.” Peterson feels Math is also the most valuable class. “I will use math in almost everything I do,” said Peterson.

Mrs. Cheney, Band & Choir Director said, "Olivia is a top notch flute player.  She works hard and comes to class and her lessons prepared.  She is a great leader."

Outside of school she is an active member of her church’s youth group. She volunteers as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.  She enjoys playing the piano, sports, babysitting her nephews and spending time with friends and family.

Peterson’s future plans are to finish High School and continue to pursue Music.

Advice for her classmates is, “Be positive, work hard, and enjoy each day!”
